Education

Through our research and experience working with colleges and universities we’ve learned a lot about what it takes to help students, faculty and administrators have a great experience in their space. We’ve leaned that teaching and learning styles are as diverse as the people you see on campus, which means spaces need to be diverse too.

bkm Education Environment

At colleges and universities across the country, designing for sustainability is not an option, it's an imperative. Students and faculty demand spaces that do not harm human or environmental health and administrators are committed to that goal. bkm shares this goal and we are dedicated to serving our customers in a way that never becomes a disservice to our planet. Through our partnership with Steelcase, we have adopted an environmental strategy focused on three key areas:

Materials Chemistry

It's all about understanding the materials we use - down to the molecular level - and assessing them against 19 human and environmental health criteria.

Life Cycle Assessment

This process measures the total environmental impact of our products throughout their lifecycle - from raw materials to production, transportation, use and end-of-use phases.

Recycling and Reuse

Our aim is to make the best decisions about using materials with recycled content with an eye toward ongoing recyclability. To that end we design for disassembly, because products that can be easily taken apart are more likely to be recycled. The Steelcase Environmental Partnership helps customers find an alternative to disposal when products are at their end of use.

We believe that big or small, every action that safeguards the environment is significant. And we know you believe that too. To learn more about bkm’s partnership with Steelcase and our environmental strategy, please visit Environment
